"Pooches Paradise" at Solara Resort
**Pool closed for maintenance Nov 27 - Dec 8 2023** Located 15 minutes from Banff, and approximately one hour from Calgary, this home away from home comes with a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely covered patio with BBQ and seating to enjoy the mountain air. We love where we live, and we love to share it with guests, so when you stay with us we welcome you properly, with added touches such as freshly roasted local coffee and locally made, 100% natural bath and body products. The entire apartment is kept clean using only eco-friendly cleaning products (no nasty chemicals here!).
Guests have access to all parts of the condo and the resort, excluding the Stay Well program which is for hotel guests only.
Solara Resort and Spa is located in the main tourist condo area. The local bus is nearby, with connections to a bus to Banff , Lake Louise and Calgary. If you come by airport shuttle the stop is a couple of minutes up the road. This is a licensed, legal condo, so your booking is assured. Coffee shops, liquor store, general store etc. are all 5 minutes walk away. If you need a little pampering, One Wellness spa is gorgeous, and is located within Solara Resort. There are restaurants, coffee shops and bars close by, see our Welcome Book for details.
The apartment is best suited for couples, but there is extra accommodation for 1-2 on the comfy sofa bed if you need it. The indoor pool and hot tub are a welcome place to revive sore muscles after a day of adventure, and if you want to work off dinner, there is a fantastic gym in One Wellness. Personal coaching, use of the sauna and steam room (highly recommended) and full spa service are available at extra cost. Can't be bothered walking to town? There's a decent Asian-fusion restaurant across the street in Falcon Crest Lodge, plus excellent dining at Shops of Canmore (5 minutes walk) or The Malcolm Hotel in Spring Creek (7 minutes walk - the Stirling Lounge is our favorite!)
Canmore offers loads of opportunities for the adventurous and serene alike. Hike, bike, climb, ski, white water raft or canoe, and when you need a little downtime, settle with a picnic blanket and a book in a park besides the river in summer, or cosy up in front of the fire in winter.
Free local Roam transit is available within Canmore, with connections to Banff and Lake Louise (fares apply). Legacy Trail bike path to Banff is literally a one minute ride away. Canmore is highly walkable, with dedicated paths for both foot traffic and bikes all over town. Bikes can be rented from Gear Up, a 5 minute walk from the home.

My husband and I plus our goldendoodle spent two weeks at Kim’s condo - from early to mid-September. The location of the condo was ideal. We could walk just about everywhere we wanted to go in Canmore. Shops, restaurants and breweries were just minutes away, often by walking one of Canmore’s scenic paths. Banff is only a 20 minute ride north. Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway are easily accessed via the major interstate. Easy!
Our trip to Canmore was a two-week stay in a two-month adventure in the Rocky Mountains - in the U.S. and in Canada. We had plenty of clothing in anticipation of the extended road trip and changing weather. We found closet space and stowing options at Kim’s not adequate for our needs but we made do. The king size bed was very comfy and the kitchen was nicely stocked. The family room had a gas fireplace that made our evenings cozy. The FP in the bedroom was not working during our time there. The famrm furniture could use some updating.

Our stay was wonderful. The unit is as the pictures look. We enjoyed having a ground floor unit for our dog. We made use of the onsite gym which was a plus for us.

This was a great spot at a really nice resort. The patio is on ground level so we could avoid having the dog use the elevator which she hates. It’s about a 20 minute walk to town center, a trail runs along a river and is very pleasant. There is a coffee/beer/sandwich shop on the property which was nice. Our 7YO loved the resorts hot tub (seemed like a big hit for all kids). Would stay here again for sure.

Love the condo and area. The condo had everything you needed. Spacious and luxurious. We felt right at home. Our host was very responsive and accommodating. A personalized welcome sign in the kitchen was a nice touch for our stay. After being evacuated from our home due to wildfire, the comfort of your home took a lot of the stress away. Decided to take a last minute trip to get my daughter off campus for a couple of days before finals to spend some time hiking with her fur-baby. This unit was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. The direct access to the outdoor space for our dog was such a convenience. The unit was bright and quiet - which was perfect for my daughter for studying. The hosts were very quick to respond to our inquiries. Typical of a rental we did see small areas showing minor wear and tear (vanity, some furniture) but nothing of any concern. Overall an amazing property and we will definitely book here again!

We stayed here with our pup and had a very peaceful stay. The condo was well stocked, instructions were clear, and the place was very neat! Having the back door to walk out to the path was great and our pup liked to watch people walk by through the large, bright windows. Nice walking trails and coffee shop right there was a bonus! Only thing we didn’t like was how loud the indoor hot tub was when the pool was full of kids. Regardless of that, the place was wonderful and we would book here again!

We loved our monthly stay at Pooches Paradise and the stay exceeding our expectations. The kitchen was stocked well with everything we needed, the internet worked great for two remote workers on zoom calls daily, and the living space was comfortable and spacious. The beautiful views from this area stole the show! We loved the walkability to trails, town, and the dog park, which our dog also loved. We took advantage of the gym and spa a few steps away and visited it daily. You do hear some frequent noise from renters upstairs, which is expected as a first floor unit, but it didn’t bother us. We highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

Kim is very informative about the unit and it is a beautiful place to stay. It is absolutely spotless and has everything you might need. The massive windows let you see the beautiful outdoor space right outside with a deck which was warm enough to use! It is peaceful and relaxing and everything in the unit worked and no issues with anything in the unit. We had a bit of a challenge finding our way from the underground parking but the instructions are exactly what you need to follow. Thank you Kim for a wonderful weekend!

Had a most pleasant stay with our dog at Pooches Paradise! The condo was well appointed and very clean. In a peaceful location and quite walkable to town. Kim and the staff at Fairshare were very responsive and helpful. They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into making the stay comfortable and ensuring guests have everything needed. They’re obviously professional hosts. Our only disappointment has nothing to do with the unit itself and more to do with Solara Resort. Being from Calgary we’re familiar with Solara and have to say it was a bit of a let down unfortunately. The building itself was in need of some repair and the pool/hot tub was not as expected for a luxury boutique 4 star hotel. We appreciate there’s nothing the hosts could do about this but good to know for future guests if a pool/hot tub is a major consideration. We paid to visit to One Wellness spa across the way and that was wonderful, recommend the Recovery Room. Overall very good value and we’d gladly return. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay. Check in was good - had to get directions to unit from front desk at resort and clarity on where we could park in U/G parking space. Kitchen well stocked and great appliances. During our stay, the pool and Hot-tub areas of the resort were not working, which was disappointing. Communication with owner was prompt and friendly. Would stay again as long as the pool area is working.
